Alvieno Stinson (b. 1996) is a multidisciplinary Visual Artist, Real Estate Developer, Capoerista, and Umbandista rooted in the vibrant energy of the Bronx, NY. He is the Founder of Polaris & Crux®, an organization dedicated to equipping marginalized communities with tools in real estate, finance, and urban development—advancing economic regeneration and self-determination. And he is the author of “Meditations on Our Regenerative Democracy” and “Real Estate Finance & Development: A Practical Guide to the Morality of Finance.”
As Director of Real Estate Development at a South Bronx nonprofit, he oversees housing operations, manages site staff, and leads large-scale rehabilitation projects to preserve more than 1,200 units of affordable housing across the South Bronx. Previously, as Senior Project Manager at NYC’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, he contributed to the preservation of nearly 2,000 affordable units and coordinated complex public-private financing. Prior to both positions, he contributed to the development of 112 housing units in Ithaca, NY, as a Development Associate.
Alvieno holds dual Master’s degrees in Real Estate Development and Urban & Regional Planning from Cornell University (2023) and a BFA from the School of Visual Arts (2019). His career bridges art and housing justice—his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally alongside artists such as Kennedy Yanko, Derrick Adams, and Thornton Dial, and featured by CBS’s The Dig, Artsy, NY Art Beat, and the Caribbean Broadcasting Station.
From financing and developing housing to creating transformative programs like Sanctuary: Bronx, Alvieno’s practice unites design, discipline, and justice—reimagining community development as both a creative and spiritual act.
